How do I use the Lapdock?

Use your MOTOROLA ATRIX  just like a laptop with this QWERTY keyboard, gorgeous display, and rich webtop experience. 

   Laptop Dock

Here are tasks that can be performed while using the Lapdock:

  • Manage your files, media, and email using a full keyboard
  • Send and receive calls
  • Browse rich desktop web sites
  • Access or store files on USB storage devices
  • Print to Wi-Fi printers
  • Use phone apps and web apps during calls
  • Stream Adobe Flash videos
  • Access and use Citrix-hosted business applications
  • Charge your phone while using dock
  • Connect a USB or Bluetooth mouse for easier interaction with applications
  • Work and play from anywhere, even when no Wi-Fi connection is available (with appropriate data plan)
  • Watch HD movies stored on your phone during a flight while charging your phone battery
  • Listen to music from built-in stereo speakers

To begin using your Lapdock with your device, follow these simple steps:

  • Be sure to fully charge (it should take roughly 1.5 hours to fully charge) your Lapdock prior to docking your phone to maximize your experience
    • Tip: Your Lapdock battery comes with at least 40-60% of full charge out of the box.  Completely discharged, a dead battery will charge in about 3 hours.

Charge for about 3 to 4 hrs

  • Your Lapdock has a full charge once your battery indicator Battery indicator is solid white (100% charge) (Located on the rear right side of the dock when the display is lowered.)
  • You can always check the dock's battery life by pressing the batery status button Battery Status Button located in the front of the Lapdock as shown:

Note: Each dot represents 20% charge, with five total (100%)


  • Confirm the ATRIX is powered on and unlocked, then connect to your Lapdock by flipping open the cradle and carefully inserting your phone

Once docked, your phone will automatically launch the apps picker, from which you can choose, Widget clock (Clock Mode) or Do nothing (Home screen)


Clock Mode

It Displays photos and videos, plays music, shows weather and time, and works as an alarm clock.

Notes:

  • You can swipe your finger either left or right to add other shortcuts along the bottom bar as long as there is space available. 
    • In an open area, press and hold the bar to open the Add to Desk Home, you can add, Application Shortcuts or Dock Widgets.
    • You can also press the Menu and Tap Add, for additional shortcuts or widgets.
    • To remove a shortcut, press and hold the desired widget and drag it to the trash off to the right. 
  • The X icon in the upper left hand corner will take you back to your Home Screen.
  • For optimum connection to the Lapdock, or if you  have a protective case that causes any interference with the station, please remove the case from the phone prior to docking it to the station.

Tip:  If your phone times out or goes to sleep you can follow these steps to prevent the display from timing outs:

Menu > Settings > Applications > Development > Stay Awake


Using the webtop mode

To use the webtop mode, simply open the Lapdock display and your phone will launch the webtop, allowing you to go to the desktop, giving you a PC like experience

Entertainment Mode

If you're in the webtop application, you can also select the Entertainment Center iconHD app from the app tray to start the Entertainment Center application and view media stored on your phone, or SD Card or USB Mass Storage device (while on the dock).
